The ransom of his life is costly
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose
your own soul? – Matthew 16:26
Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying
a ransom to God. Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay
enough to live forever and never see the grave. – Psalm 49:7-9
And just as each person is destined to die once and after
that comes judgment – Hebrews 9:27
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve
others and to give his life as a ransom for many. – Mark 10:45
For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile
God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for
everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. 1
Timothy 2:5-6
What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position “a little
lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now
“crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for
everyone. – Hebrews 2:9
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from
the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was
not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless,
spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world
began – 1 Peter 1:18-20
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
