A Psalm of Thanksgiving by Judith Barnett

God you are so very good
Where would we be without you?
You never laugh at us or dismiss us,
You only ever encourage and affirm.

You are the rock on which we stand.
You are our provider, our refuge and our friend through all the ups and downs of life.
Nothing is a surprise to you.
And you give us daily strength and provide help for us to carry on

Thank you for the gift of friendship.
You have made us your friends – we praise your name
Thank you that you have not left us alone.
You have given us friends – we praise your name

Thank you your love accepts us as we are
Thank you that your love is committed to the best for us – and that usually means change
Thank you for friends who change us:
For love that commits to us
For words that encourage us
For attitudes that soften us - that the rough edges of our character get knocked off.

Thank you that you are making us more like Jesus
Thank you for your smile over us; your friendship and my friend.

Psalm of the Park

I see you lord in your creation
In winding paths around a lake

In birds wadding in muddy puddles
In butterflies that glide past on the wind

In fallen leaves, golden, red and brown
In mighty trees with countless shades of green

In children playing hide and seek
In mothers proudly strolling past with prams

In the smell of rosemary filling the air
In the earthly aroma of autumn beneath my feet

In old ladies walking their dogs
In young couples together hand in hand

In the cry of geese on the wind
In the trickling song of a lonely stream

In everything awash with colour
In the incredible wonder of your creation.
