Saturday 17th August 2013

Liverpool v Stoke 2-0

Forecasting a good start for Liverpool, they should have the quality to get the three points.

Arsenal v Aston Villa  1-0

Home advantage should work in the Gunners favor.

Norwich v Everton 2-2

I never bet against my team, but this is a tricky opening day game for the new Everton manager.

Sunderland v Fulham 0-0

This has a goalless draw written all over it.

West Brom v Southampton 2-0
WBA should have the home advantage to make this count.

West Ham v Cardiff  2-0

Difficult opening fixture for Cardiff, West Ham play well at home.

Swansea v Man Utd  2-1

I think the new Man U will struggle against a good Swansea team

Crystal Palace v Tottenham 0-2

Spurs have too much quality for the newly promoted Palace

Chelsea v Hull 3-0

I think that says it all.

Monday 19th August 2013

Man City v Newcastle 2-0

Too much quality and power at City.

Wednesday 21st August 2013

Chelsea v Aston Villa 2-1

This might be closer than it looks on paper, but i still think that Chelsea at home should edge this.

Premiership Predictions 2014

The new season is also upon us,

New managers in post, Moyes at United, Martinez at Everton, this list is endless.

Established managers sharpening their knives,

Owners getting ready to find an excuse for the first sacking.

And it is time for me to make a complete fool of myself

And upset most of the football world

With my Predictions for the new season.

So who will win the Premiership and who will be relegated and who will be the dark horse?

Firstly the big prize

After my correct prediction last season with Manchester United, I must admit that this season it all looks a much more even field. But I must go with my heart and chose the Special One and Chelsea as my prediction although I reckon that Manchester City will run them close.

So my top 5 is:

1. Chelsea
2. Manchester City
3. Manchester United
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool

And My Relegation fodder is:

1. Crystal Palace
2. Stoke
3. Cardiff

Dark Horses this season are: Swansea and Aston Villa

My team Everton I predict a 10^th place .

And the FA Cup team is Manchester United

League Cup team is Liverpool

Just to make it interesting in the Championship

My two teams for Automatic promotion are:

Bolton

Wigan

Playoff Champions are Q.P.R.

And who will be the first Premiership manager given the boot:

Mark Hughes at Stoke (sorry)

So there you are

I’m very rarely right,

But it’s good for a laugh!

My Premiership Predictions

It seems like yesterday that I was sitting here writing my football season predictions.

And how did I do?

My Premiership top 5 was:

Manchester United

Chelsea

Manchester City

Arsenal

Liverpool

And it finished up:

Manchester United

Manchester City

Chelsea

Arsenal

Spurs

And My Relegation fodder was:

West Brom

Reading

Norwich

And it finished up:

Wigan

Reading

Q.P.R.

My team Everton I predicted a 7th place and they finished 6^th.

And the FA Cup team was Arsenal but it went to Wigan

League Cup team was Newcastle and that went to Swansea.

So there we are, the 2012-13 season finally over for the Premiership. I didn't do too badly, I predicted the Champions and got all the top 4 in the top 4. Spurs surprised me, Everton thrilled me and Liverpool were a disappointment.

When it came to the cup’s I got it way, way wrong, but I am glad as Wigan and Swansea both deserve their trophies, I admire the way both clubs play.

I am looking forward to next season with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all with new managers; it should be more interesting than ever.

The two managers that have really shone this season are Sir Alex and way down the league at AFC Bournemouth, Eddie Howe, what an incredible achievement to gain promotion from the position he took over. Eddie Howe is a talented manager and Bournemouth are a great club.

Beat The Flying Penguin - Premiership Scores Week 3

And so we move on to week 3 of the Premiership Season and the Penguin has been wandering the frozen wastelands of the South Pole looking for inspiration.

But first we take a look to see how the Penguin did in week 2l

 

Swansea City v West Ham United 2-0  Result 3-0

A correct home result here for the Penguin, who was mightily impressed with the Swans. 

Aston Villa v Everton 1-1 Result 1-3

Everton blew Villa away and with it the Penguins prediction, never bet against your own team!

Manchester United v Fulham 3-0 Result 3-2

A correct home win but the Penguin was unimpressed with Sir Alex’s boys, Fulham looked good for a point and they are playing well.

Norwich City v Queens Park Rangers 0-0 Result 1-1

A correct result, the only thing that surprised the penguin was that both teams managed to score.

Southampton v Wigan Athletic 3-1 Result 0-2

The penguin hangs his head in shame, Wigan looked really good and Southampton could not find the edge they needed.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion 3-0 Result 1-1

The penguin was genuinely surprised by this one, first how inept Spurs were and secondly, how well WBA are playing.

Chelsea v Newcastle United 1-0 Result 2-0

A correct result and much as the penguin expected

Stoke City v Arsenal 2-1 Result 0-0

The penguin fell asleep during this one and woke up half way through Eastenders,

Liverpool v Manchester City 0-2  Result 2-2

Liverpool was the better team and on another day would have got all three points. But Skirtel’s abysmal back pass gave the penguin a year’s entertainment.

So there it is, the Flying Penguin week 2

Exact Score – Nil

Correct scores – 4

Wrong scores – 6

So not a good start for the season, but the penguin is hopeful that week 3 he can turn it around.

 

Saturday

West Ham United v Fulham 1-2

This is a difficult one, but Fulham have been very impressive and so should edge it.

Swansea City v Sunderland  1- 0

This will be tight but Swansea are flying at the moment and should edge this.

Tottenham Hotspur v Norwich City 2-0

Tottenham will come good and Norwich will find this very difficult

West Bromwich Albion v Everton 0-1

Never bet against your own team

Wigan Athletic v Stoke City 1-1

This has score draw written all over it

Manchester City v Queens Park Rangers 4-0

Enough said!

Sunday

Liverpool v Arsenal 2-0

Liverpool should hit this run running and get the result

Newcastle United v Aston Villa 2-0

This should be a home win for Newcastle as Villa will struggle to get this started

Southampton v Manchester United 0-1

United should have too much but this could easily be a draw

 

So there you are, the Flying Penguin has spoken from his advantage spot on a lonely ice covered hill.

But will he be right and will he do better than his 4 correct results last week?

All Right it is time to get the Premiership show on the road and see if you can beat the Flying Penguin!

It shouldn’t be too difficult

It is a Flying Penguin after all !!

Let us start with, the early start

Saturday

Swansea City v West Ham United 2-0

Going for a home win, Swansea should have too much in the tank for the Hammers. But Big Sam does have the ability to pull the rabbit out of the hat, but home advantage and attacking flair should be enough.

Aston Villa v Everton 1-1

Score draw, Paul Lamberts side need to win, but my team are playing well and look good defensively.

Manchester United v Fulham 3-0

Sir Alex will want to get the season going and Fulham will feel the full force of United.

Norwich City v Queens Park Rangers 0-0

Neither side will want to lose

Southampton v Wigan Athletic 3-1

A few goals but Southampton have the edge are looking threatening

Sunderland v Reading 1-0

Martin O’Neil’s team should be able to see off the new boys.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion 3-0

AVB will want to have a good home start and his team will be up for this game

Chelsea v Newcastle United 1-0

This will be a tight game, but Chelsea should have the class to edge it.

Sunday

Stoke City v Arsenal 2-1

Tony Pulis’s side is a real handful and Arsenal will be lucky to get anything from this

Liverpool v Manchester City 0-2

Manchester City look good and Liverpool look at sea, so unless the new manager can get them playing in ‘his’ style I think the Reds will struggle

2. Reading
3. Norwich

Dark Horses this season are: Q.P.R and Southampton.

Bolton

Birmingham

Playoff Champions are Burnley.
