Well Christmas is only a few weeks away.
So I thought I would start the festivities by going back to
my favorite Christmas song when I was growing up.
Back to 1973.
It could have been Slade, or Wizard.
Every one in the 1970’s seemed to have a go at writing a
song to top the charts.
I can still remember the shock when I discovered that Greg
Lake had sold out to the commercial
Christmas.
It was unbelievable that the Kings of Progressive rock,
Emerson, Lake and Palmer should even contemplate making
a Christmas record.
But there was one man who stood head and shoulders above
everyone else in the 1970’s.
Elton John.
With the magnificent album Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road .
His Christmas effort ‘Step into Christmas’ was for me the
best Christmas song of childhood. There seemed something ‘right’ about Elton
singing about Christmas.
So here it is, Step into Christmas, from 1973, enjoy
