I wonder if the Innkeeper understood the young couple and took pity on their tale,

I wonder if Herod’s soldiers understood the orders as they murdered the newborn males.

I wonder if the Wise Men understood the child fulfilled the mystery that was hidden,

I wonder if Mary understood the destiny of the baby God to her had given.

I wonder if this Christmas I understand the impact of the child King,

I wonder if I understand the inheritance that his birth now brings.
