Friday's Five - Mary's Song of Praise

Luke 1 v 46 -55

Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
For he took notice of his lowly servant girl,
and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
For the Mighty One is holy,
and he has done great things for me.
He shows mercy from generation to generation
to all who fear him.
His mighty arm has done tremendous things!
He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.
He has brought down princes from their thrones
and exalted the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away with empty hands.
He has helped his servant Israel
and remembered to be merciful.
For he made this promise to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children forever"

Fridays Five is Mary’s song of praise to God.

There are so many truths from this song but I want to concentrate on five grace promises that stems from the recognition of God’s goodness in Mary’s heart.

God entered the world and chose Mary as his vessel.

God's birth into the world in flesh.

He took notice of his lowly servant girl – God notices everyone, everyone is special to God. So special that he sent his son to die for every single one in their place. Everyone has had their sins forgiven by the Cross. Not a select few, everyone who believes and receives Christ’s finished work receives new life and are united with Him, in his fullness. There are no exceptions.

He has done great things for me – God is a great God, he has provided all we need to live a victorious new life through Christ. Everything has been provided by his grace. His grace is overflowing and overwhelming towards us. A cascade is goodness, mercy,  joy, love, security and adventures. All now living inside every believer.

He has filled the hungry with good things – God is good and he fills us with good things. He never gives us anything bad. Guilt and condemnation are lies from the enemy.  We are eternally righteous, eternally blessed and showered with his love.

He remembered to be merciful – We deserve nothing from God. God in his mercy has provided all things to us through grace. His mercy is forever flowing to a world that has rejected and scorned him. But he is great, great in mercy and has poured his love out through Christ’s death on the cross.

He made this promise to our ancestors – God is a God who keeps his promises. Just as he promised through the prophets he sent them a savior who took the judgment they deserved.  Christ fulfilled the law, every promise in the Bible is YES and AMEN to those in Christ. He is a God who keeps his promises and is totally faithful.

Just as God chose Mary to carry Jesus, he also chooses us and we have Christ living in us. God provided all Mary needed, gave her the strength and was with her every step of her journey, so God has also provided all we need in grace and is with us.

Gods grace overflowed to Mary and her heart overflowed with rejoicing, she is an amazing example and picture of God working inside each and every believer.
