Remembrance Week - The Unnamed

Today the battlefields of Northern France are a place of real beauty.

Nestled in open fields are British cemeteries, lovingly tended, wonderfully silent and truly inspiring.

They are places of reflection, admiration and thankfulness.

It is difficult to comprehend the horror that took place in these fields.

Now and then you get sight of a derelict pill-box or gun emplacement.

If you visit Vimy Ridge near Arras you can walk through concrete trenches, look over no mans land from a fire step, but of course there is no constant shelling, no smells, no horror.

In the numerous cemeteries of the Somme there are rows upon rows of unnamed graves,

Silent

Awe inspiring.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please do not feel you have to comment. I enjoyed writing, listening to God and sharing his toughts. I hope you enjoyed reading, and may God who is able to make all grace, every favour and earthly blessing come to you in abundance, do far above all you can ask or think, according to the power that works within you. Be blessed.
