A God of Compassion

 Isaiah 40

A God of Compassion

The prophet Isaiah in the final years of King Hezekiah reign, prophecies into the future deliverance from an impending exhile and a day of liberation. Isaiah declares God’s intentions but more importantly he declares God’s compassion. God's words come from deep emotion, and deep infinite compassionate love .

God knows that his people are riddled with forgetfulness. God knows that forgetfulness brings forth ingratitude and ingratitude takes away confidence in the future. Salvation for his people is founded in an act of memory in all that God has promised from a God who will never forget them.

God comes to his people to remind them of his majesty, his magnificence and his everlasting, complete compassion for them. His words are his eternal commitment to them and his heart of infinite love. Forgetfulness will lead them into exhile, so he comes to them to give them the promise of a New day of liberation and a new day of a New Covenant.
